Garden

I did buy a couple of plants that were already started for me.  I just put them in these pots.  i have some salad lettuce, spinach, ccucumbers, jalapenos, strawberries and cabbage. I will soon have to move the jalapenos to another location, I don't want them to mix flavors.

My Little Plants

My seeds are doing so good, I'm almost scared to put them outside in the ground.

My first atempt at gardening

Here is my first attempt at growing a garden. I have been saving these seeds for almost two years in the anticipation of starting a garden so I can be self suffienct and not have to buy so much of my own food. I am really excited that I will have a place in my back yard that I can grow my own food. This is a new experience for me. I love growing plants but growing food is a little bit different. We shall see how it works.

Finally Home

I know it has been awhile since I wrote anything. I have had a nightmare the past year trying to buy my home. After almost a year, two different mortgage companies and numerous arguments I finally closed on my home in December of 2010. It feels really good to finally have that past me. I am still trying to get settled, I didn't realize how much stuff I had since most of it has been in storage for the last few years. The house is a little smaller than I would have liked but it was a good deal and came up at the right time. I am in the process of weeding out stuff I absolutely have to keep and stuff I don't need, which is not a fun or easy job (because I think I need to keep everything). Now that spring is near I am starting seeds to have a garden, I am so looking forward to having fresh vegetables and being mostly self sufficient. I will have pictures once I start growing.

Buying a house

I am starting the process of buying a house. It is so much to do and I have almost no idea what I'm doing, I'm lucky I have some friends at work that are helping me. I am looking for some foreclosures that are under $100,000.00 which aren't very many in the areas I want to live. I hope I can find something soon.

Our New Family Member

This is Dusty our newest family member. We've had him for awhile but I'm just getting around to taking pictures and such. I'm glad I finally learned how to post pictures on here. About 8 or 9 months ago I kept hearing this noise and meowing in the garage. I finally figured out it is coming from behind a bookshelf in the back of the garage. I managed to squeeze my head behind the shelf and I saw it was a cat. I coaxed him out and it turned out to be the sweetest and loudest cat ever. I have never heard a cat meow so much. He is so attention starved that he meows all the time unless you are petting him. I named him Dusty because he was always rolling around in the dirt. Since this was an unusually cold winter we decided to let Dusty come inside, Bella hates that. I don't know if Bella will ever get used to him.

Celebrating a Wonderful Lady

February 17 was Mrs. Bee's Birthday.
Mrs. Bee was the director of the Hinds Hi-Steppers for over 55 years. She is the most amazing lady. She has always been about teaching her girls to be kind, courteous, graceful young ladies. Her years of community service and performing for fund raisers are more than I could ever hope to accomplish in my lifetime. I wish I could have leaned more from her when I was a Hi-Stepper, but I was selfishly more preoccupied by other now unimportant things in life. Now that I am older I know the importance of her lessons and wish I could used them more in my life now. My years as a Hi-Stepper were not all wasted; it helped me grow out of my shyness and helped me to make some of the best friends that will last a lifetime. I think it was said best by the current director that Mrs. Bee is a Living Legend.

New Orleans Trip

This past weekend Bruce and I went to New Orleans since he had a Saturday off for once. We really needed to get away and just do something together besides stay in bed most of the morning and waste the day. I really had to bug him to get him out of bed, he said he changed his mind and wanted to stay in bed and sleep, but I managed to get him up and in the car. I get so tired of weekends just laying around the house all day, especially if he is off I think we should do something. We really had a lot of fun, but next time we should get a map and plan a little better, there were several shops and things that we couldn't find that I would have liked to have gone to. We ended up acting like tourists that have never been there, we bought to many souvenirs.

Part Time Work

A couple of weeks ago I started working part-time at the Frog Head Grill doing their bookkeeping. Bruce is head chef there and I've known the owner since I was about 8 years old. Josh(the owner) knew I did accounting and asked me to help him out with his bills and stuff. He wants me to enter payroll, pay some of the bills, and enter all the money they spend. I wasn't sure I would be able to do it at first cause I'm not really an accountant and I'm terrible with math, but it's not hard at all. I have a great schedule and can make a little extra money. I pretty much have to come in on Sundays because there are certain things I need to do for Monday, but during the week I can basically make my own schedule which I love. It's nice to work when you want to and get paid for it, and it's something that is fun so I don't dread working. It's a fun environment to work in and I'm getting reacquainted with someone I used to know and getting to know his wife. As Bruce says, he lucky he has a great boss and made a good friend too. I love Spring!

I just love spring, when everything starts to grow and the weather starts to really change. It is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year along with Fall. I'm so glad Spring is finally here, I've been anxiously awaiting this time so all my plants can really start to grow and I can leave them outside and not worry about them freezing.
